How did the start of Islam affect arab merchants?

I’m doing my history homework, and I would like to know how the Beginning of Islam/Muslim religion affected merchants in the Middle East at the time?

Well, many merchants also converted to Islam and so they started practicing more Islamic ways of business and trade. Whether or not they turned Muslim though, they were able to spread Islam over very long distances and that’s how it initially reached places outside of Arabia, even places where muslims didn’t conquer like South East Asia.

I hope that answered your question.

Would the moderation or decline of Islam in the Middle East diminish or even eradicate terrorism?

I'm not saying that Islam is responsible for terrorism. What I'm saying is that the prevalence of extreme, uncompromising forms of it are. While there will always be dangerous extremists resulting from any religion (or belief system for that matter), I think there are a particularly large amount coming from certain Middle Eastern countries because extreme forms of Islam are more socially acceptable there than extreme versions of the prevailing religion are in other parts of the world.

What would help diminish Muslim terrorism would be a more widespread condemnation of it by the region's leading Imams and Muslim organizations.

Another approach would be the promulgation among Muslim Middle Easterners scholarly criticisms of the validity of the Koran that also challenge Muhammad's prophet status .

These two approaches would help make Islam much less socially acceptable, methinks, and thus adversely impact the funding and recruitment of the militant radicals.

What do you think about islam is it the source of violance?

Islam is a great religion and I am very happy and glorified because I am muslim.I don't want to ask this question because the answer is very cleare and if any one want to know the pure answer he or she can enter Islam and see. But I Want just to know your opinion.

Historically, Islam has been no more violent than Christianity or Judaism. One only need examine the Old Testament and the Crusades to see that. The growth of violent Muslim extremism over the past 40-50 years likely has more to do with politics and economics than with Islam. If the Middle East were predominately Christian, the extremists would find a justification within Christianity for their violent acts. The killing of innocents or prisoners and the destruction of buildings during warfare are forbidden by the Koran.
