What percentage of Muslims would you say are terrorists or have terrorist sympathies?

I’ve known Muslims in the UK and the US, the American ones seemed to be pretty docile, but I saw a lot of British ones were a lot more radicalized and prejudiced against Jews. I’d have to agree with the statement that most muslims aren’t terrorists but a LOT of them are or at the very least have terrorist sympathies or are receptive to Sharia.

I have fought against radical Islamists in Iraq and Afghanistan when I was in the US Army, so I know firsthand how barbaric some can be in their natural environment.

I’m Muslim, and very surprised at the other answers. My family and I, as well as many other Muslim friends/coworkers/acquaintances were absolutely horrified at not only 9/11, but all the other terrorist attacks as well.

It’s very sad that as a society we believe that Islam promotes or encourages terrorism. Terrorists are not true Muslims, but very misguided and disturbed people. Jihad itself is meant only to defend your religion in a time of crisis, NOT to kill innocent people, regardless of their faith, in the name of Islam. In fact, in the Quran it says that to kill one person is as if to kill all humankind.

To answer your question, I would say that a very small percentage of Muslims sympathize or commend terrorism.

How can Islam be the peacemaker of the world when Muslims fight one another?

I’ve seen lot of muslims who claim that the Islam is about to convert the mankind and the world will be peaceful as if it were a utopia. But how would it work when we see so many Islamic countries and organizations fighting each other all the time?
And no matter how good messages the Islam teach, what is the point of it if they aren’t to be practiced?

Good question

How does a person know which path of Islam is correct?

Filed under: Islam — Tags: Braches, Correct Path, Good Question, Guidance, Islam, knowledge, Lot, Muslim, Quran, Regard, Sect, Sects, Trusting God, Truth — admin @ 5:42 am

I am learning that there are so many braches of Islam, why so many? Which one is correct?

I only know what I am guided to. I gave it a month of trying to figure out the various beliefs and their differences before I simply stopped trying to place myself within one of them.

Quran is the correct path, for all who would consider themselves muslim. This much I know is true, this much I follow, this much makes me muslim. As far as the branches or sects… if a person within them follows Quran, I am willing to accept they are muslim, and I will not judge them for what we disagree with outside of Quran. I leave the judging to God, only he knows the truth.

I go back and forth with everything outside of Quran. The thing is, there are those in every sect I both believe make a lot of sense, as well as those I think sound a bit… crazy in their beliefs. When two set of beliefs begin to argue, I find valid points in both, and I find I disagree with both as well in some regard. Though perhaps what I disagree with most is the fact everyone goes around calling each other non-believers, kafir, etc. It turns me off from labeling or grouping myself with anything, other than a muslim who follows Quran, and learns from wherever there is knowledge.

I rely on Quran, and I rely on guidance from God. Wherever that takes me, it is where I'm meant to be. If God guided me to find the Quran… I don't see why I should trust the different branches to guide me into their ways, over trusting God to guide me there if it's where I need to be.

I do not know that anyone can honestly look at another person, and say they are not guided to where they are by God as well. "Which path is correct?" is a good question, but I think only God knows this, and I think everyone is relying on too many other sources other than God to figure it out.

How are the roots of Christianity and Islam similar?

How are the roots of Christianity and Islam similar? How did the development of each influence the other?

They both share the same god, the god of Abraham. Think of it like the protestant churches splitting from the Catholic church and now we have lot’s of Christian churches. Well in the same way Christianity and Islam split from the Jewish religion following different prophets. Christianity had Jesus and Islam had Mohammad.

The two are very different religions and even dislike each other very much even though they share the same god.

Why do a minority of Muslims become terroists and suicide bombers?

I know that most muslims don’t do this but why do some of them do it?

The term Islamic terrorist is actually an oxymoron because Islam means "peace" and lots of lecturer and sheikhs have talked about this. A lot of them become terrorists for political reasons and try to use Islam as a scapegoat which is unfair for the rest of us.
The Quran says killing an innocent human being is like killing all of mankind and saving a human being is like saving all of mankind.

Ramadan: How many Muslims actually understand the Christian doctrine of Trinity?

How many of the Christians here do?

From what I can tell the muslims here keep setting up nonsensical "straw man" arguments against it, and a lot of the Christians here do not have a very sophisticated understanding of their own theology either!

Ask how many people have actually read or understand anything beyond their religion! They do not look further than their own noses.
