A French parliament report called on Tuesday for a ban on the full Islamic veil — also known as the niqab or burqa — saying Muslim women who wear the garment were mounting an “unacceptable” challenge to French values. In the broadest move yet to restrict Muslim dress in France, a committee of 32 MPs recommended a ban on the face-covering veil in all schools, hospitals, public transport and government offices.
