What would you tell a christian about islam from a muslims point of view?

I need to write an essay about telling a christian about islam and i need some points?
Thanks…

When you study a historical figure, it is important to understand the setting and culture in which he lived. For example, Jesus lived in a Jewish community that was under the control of the Romans. His actions and teachings were influenced by the circumstances of His day; for example, He had a teaching regarding paying taxes to Rome: “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s” (Mk 12:17)
So, to understand Muhammad and Islam we need to look at the culture of the place where Islam was born. We will discover the roots of terrorism all the way back in seventh-century Arabia.
The characteristics of the tribes during this pre-Islam period of history can be described in three major categories. One of the stronger characteristics of Arabs in Muhammad’s time was that they were known for being extremist in everything-extreme love, extreme hate and no tolerance of others who were different from them.

The extremist mentality did not change at all after Islam. As a matter of fact, Islam embraced many of the core characteristics of this Arabic culture. There was no moderation, no reconciliation with others. If 2 people had a fight, no one would ever walk away. They didn’t have the mentality to sit and discuss and sort out a problem. Their attitude wad, “Give me my way, or give me death!” As a result, Islamic history is full of bloodshed.
Many non-Arab Muslims, such as Iranians, Afghans, Pakistani, Indians and others, have adapted to and adopted these behaviours as the way of their new religion.

Being courageous and violent was a sign of manhood in seventh-century Arabia. The people of this culture considered being quick to fight as a necessity for survival. Only the strongest survived; therefore, these tribes fought constantly as a way of existence.

This mentality was manifested into a basic lifestyle:
Defend your own tribe and its territory.
Plunder the possessions of those you defeat. Many individuals and groups would invade others to gain position and wealth.
So we see that Muhammad was born into a culture where conquest and bloodshed were the norm.

Islam’s Ultimate Goal

Jihad is carried out in order to achieve the goal of Islam-to establish Islamic authority over the whole world. Islam is not just a religion; it is a government, too. That is why it always gets down to politics. Islam teaches that Allah is the only authority;
therefore, political systems must be based on Allah’s teaching and nothing else: See Surah 5:44, 47.
People fighting jihad consider themselves to have succeeded when a nation declares Islam as both their religion and their from of government.

Nations where this has been accomplished include Afghanistan (under the Taliban), Iran (through Ayatollah Khomeini’s revolution) and Sudan (under Hasan al-Turabi).
Islamic fundamentalists are actively working to gain control over the “secular” Muslim governments of Algeria, Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Malaysia and others.

Man-made political systems-from democracies to dictatorships-are considered invalid. Moderate muslims, however, do not always agree with this. A good example is past Egyptian president Anwar Sadat. He pronounced that there would be “no politics in Islam and no Islam in politics.”
This statement was unacceptable to Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, who had become the spiritual leader of the Egyptian terrorist organization al-Jihad. After president Sadat said those words, the Sheikh declared that the president was an infidel renegade who should be killed. Following Islamic law, al-Jihad carried out the declaration of its leader and shot the president to death.
In the 1980s radical Islamic groups focused their attacks on their own governments.
Now these organizations are turning to attack the West directly.

Islam is Jihad

Remember Muslims declared Jihad worldwide, but every Muslim is playing by different rules. One is using guns and bombs, and another is using words and lies to increase the numbers of Muslims worldwide. The method makes no difference; they are both sincere Muslims and it is one jihad according to the Quran-jihad against the enemies of Allah who resist the spread of Islam worldwide.
What amazes me is that these people hung the American flag over their centers, schools, mosques and Islamic institutes. They posted signs saying, “God Bless America” or “United We Stand.” In the meantime, their fellow Muslims in the Middle East were burning American flags and posting signs supporting bin Laden and his act of terrorism on America. They will lie and say things they do not believe at any moment as long as doing so would help Islam. Their loyalty is to Islam, not to the nation where they are living.

Islam is man made and a Myth !!! a religion to suit arab mentality !!!

Mohammad Was the First Who Banned Colorism

Colorism is a famous international phenomenon of discrimination, where human beings are accorded different socio- economic status and treatment based on their skin color. White supremacy is a man made belief that those whose skin color is “white” are the superior or the master race.

The root of Colorism

For many scholars, though, the mysterious story in Genesis (9) describing how Noah cursed the descendants of his son Ham with servitude remains a way to discover the complex origins of the concept of Colorism

Genesis 9:18-27

18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) 19 These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the earth. 20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father’s nakedness and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father’s nakedness.24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said, “Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers.” 26 He also said, “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem. 27 May God extend the territory of Japheth; may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave.”

Ham came to be widely described as a black person.

By the 19th century, many historians have the same opinion; the belief that African-Americans were descendants of Ham was a primary explanation for slavery among Christians.

However, the Negro Peoples fought for their rights.

The document of the: “Declaration of Rights of the Negro Peoples of the World.” Has been produced in 1920

In June 1963, USA President John F. Kennedy said:

“The Negro baby born in America has about one-half as much chance of completing a high school as a white baby born in the same place on the same day, one-third as much chance of completing college, one-third as much chance of becoming a professional man, twice as much chance of becoming unemployed, about one-seventh as much chance of earning $10,000 a year, a life expectancy which is 7 years shorter, and the prospects of earning only half as much”.

Two years later, President Lyndon B. Johnson’s said at June 1965

“In far too many ways American Negroes have been another nation: deprived of freedom, crippled by hatred, the doors of opportunity closed to hope.”

Moreover, Recent News (between 2000-2004) reported that The European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC), argues that it is no longer acceptable to use skin color as an attribute to distinguish people,

Arabs and Colorism before Islam:

Before Islam, Colorism was widespread among the Arabs. The black person was inferior and most of the slaves were black and they had no human rights.

How did Mohammad ban Colorism?

It is known that the main sources of Islam are 1)the Noble Quran and 2) the sayings or the acts of the Prophet Mohammad.

How did the Quran ban Colorism?

One Creator and one origin:

This is based on the verse of the Noble Quran

[Surah 4: 1] the meaning of which is translated as:

“Oh mankind! Reverence your Guardian-Lord, Who created you from a single Person, created, of like nature, his mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women; fear Allah, through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (that bore you): for Allah ever watches over you”.

It means that all men are the creatures of one Allah Who created man from one origin (Adam and Eve). Therefore, men are all equal. Any discrimination based on color, class, race, or territory is unfounded and illusory. It is a remnant of the days of ignorance that chained men down to servitude. Humanity is one single family under Allah, and there can be no sanction for those barriers.

Also, Allah Created Man as an honored creature:

[Surah 17: 70] “We have honored the sons of Adam; provided them with transport on land and sea; given them for sustenance things good and pure; and conferred on them special favors, above a great part of Our Creation.”

Quran honored man and removes all the impositions of barriers and classes among the members of the Islamic society in order to enable them to enjoy and practice their legitimate rights. No color discrimination of any type is allowed in Islam.

The difference in colors is a sign of Allah the Almighty

[Surah 16: 13] “And the things on this earth which He has multiplied in varying colors (and qualities): verily in this a Sign for men who celebrate the praises of Allah (in gratitude).”

[Surah 30: 22] “And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colors; verily in that are Signs for those who know.”

[Surah 35: 28] “And so amongst men and crawling creatures and cattle, are they of various colors. Those truly fear Allah, among His Servants, who have knowledge: for Allah is exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving.”

This means that the differences in our colors, plants colors, animals’ colors are signs from the Great Creator, Allah the Almighty.

Who is the honored of you in the sight of Allah?

[Surah 49: 13] “O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full Knowledge and is well-acquainted (with all things).”

The differentiation between individuals in the Sight of Allah is based on their levels of piety, righteousness, compliance of the Commands of Allah.

Islam declares all people equal in terms of human values. The only distinction between people is on the basis of service that the individual presents to his society and community.

Mohammad said:

“O people! Your God is one and your forefather (Adam) is one. An Arab is not better than a non-Arab and a non-Arab is not better than an Arab, and a white person is not better than a black person and a black person is not better than a white person, except in piety. “

The practical lesson:

It is also reported that one of the Companions of Mohammad (named Abu Tharr) who was white once said to black slave who served him, calling him as follows:

“Oh you are the son of the black woman”.

Upon hearing this call, Mohammad turned to Abu Tharr and said to him immediately: “Are you insulting this man with his own (black) mother? Truly, you still possess some of the ignorance of the pre-Islamic era. It is over. It is over. There is no virtue or merits for the son of the white woman over the black woman except for piety and righteousness or good deeds and actions”.

Abu Tharr upon hearing the comment of Mohammad put his head down on the ground for his slave servant to come and step with his black foot on his head although Mohammad did not command him to do so. Abu Tharr felt very bad and regretted what he did and that was the reason that urged him to lay his head on the ground for his black slave servant to step on it in retaliation and revenge for what he, the master, attacked his servant with. Moreover, Abu Tharr wanted to discipline himself in a hard and humiliating way so as he would never repeat such a sin in the future.

Since this practical lesson, muslims had never practiced Colorism.

Also, Mohammad at His final sermon said:

“O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I don’t know whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have right over you. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. You know that every Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not astray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.”

Back to the history, we have two views:

The first view was in the Christian countries e.g. USA and Europe where Colorism was a big problem.

The second view was in the Islamic countries where such a problem is not present because of the Noble Quran and the teachings of the last Prophet Mohammad, the first man on earth who banned Colorism. Is not shameful that the History ignores this fact?

I know that salvation in Islam is achieved through following the Kur’an and being a truly good person throughout life. But what is the central human problem according to Islam?

The main topic in Quran is to prove the Oneness of Allah.

What can islam contribute to modern western society?

this is posted in the ramadan (ramadam or dan?) section because R & S will just end up with a lot of hate answers.

so from a liberal point of view as in equality between all races, genders, religions

what can islam offer? & is the media a lying dirty rat about islam?

Hello John and all,

I will attempt to answer your question in some detail and I hope I don’t digress from your primary concerns. I will use some quotes from the Qur’an (Muslim Holy book) and teachings from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as well as my analysis of some opinions. However, your questions concern a central theme of the Islamic faith and as such, there is a lot more that is open for discussion than I can possibly address in this response.

As a Muslim, I believe Islam has a universal message that would appeal at all times and to anyone who is at the very least willing to engage in meaningful dialogue concerning the Islamic faith, it’s adherents and our role in the global stage. As humans, we all continue to exhibit diverse attitudes and characters that are prone to praise, encouragement and of course criticism as well as outright objection. We, I believe by default have the potential to assume any such attitudes/characteristics depending on the environment around us. The purpose of religion and divine guidance, for those who believe in them, is to suppress our distasteful tendencies and bring out the best in all of us.

Equality in different spheres: race, gender, religion, social settings etc. is no doubt one of the finer characteristics of an honorable people and Islam I believe is a strong advocate for it’s preservation.

Race: The Qur’an, from which we (Muslims) derive our primary source of guidance strongly advocates the abolishing of any racial discrimination and prejudice. Many verses in the Qur’an stress the equality of all races and the role of race as a unifying factor. A couple of these are:

Qur’an 30:22: And one of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your tongues and colors; most surely there are signs in this for the learned.

and,

Qur’an 49:13: O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also stressed this notion throughout his mission. One of the times he talked about this was during the last sermon he delivered:

"All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a White has no superiority over a Black nor a Black has any superiority over a White except by piety and good action."

These few references clearly express Islams stand on racial equality.

Now over to gender equality – hope you are still reading, this might be pretty long :(

Gender equality is no doubt a complex issue that continues to be a challenge to all peoples of the world albeit to varying degrees. No one individual can satisfactorily layout what constitutes gender equality because our thinking is different – what one person might consider as liberation and empowerment another might perceive as subjugation and disenfranchisement. That being said, there is no doubt a set of indicators that can be used to differentiate between the two phenomena. In Islam, certain rights are given to men and women with consideration for their roles in family and social settings. First of all, Islam recognizes the complementary role of men and women in society.

In the Qur’an, it is stated that:

"And one of His (God’s) signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves that you may find rest in them, and He put between you love and compassion; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect." (Qur’an 30:21)

Islam came at a time and place where women were treated with a lot of contempt and played a pivotal role in alleviating their status since then. Many rights were re-affirmed including but not limited to inheritance, divorce, acquisition of personal property, preservation of dignity etc. Kindness and generosity to the female child, sisters, mothers, wives and women in general is highly emphasized. Again, there are some guidelines that may be perceived as discriminatory against women but some of these require a fairly deep analysis of other Islamic injunctions for a better understanding and fairer judgment. Among these are inheritance rights and clothing requirements – two prominent features of Islamic life that are used to portray Islam under a less than fair light. I will be more than willing to address these at a later time should anyone express interest in learning more about them.

As regards religions, Islam once again stresses the need to live with other religions on equal terms. Despite many compelling observations that would seem to suggest otherwise, Islam calls for tolerance and respect for other religions. The Qur’an stresses the need for religious freedom:
Qur’an 2:256: Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects Taghut (evil) and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trust worthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things. "
There are some issues that people question regarding the permission to practice ones religion freely in an Islamic state. One such issue is a tax that used to be imposed on adherents of other faiths as a pre-requisite to be accorded state protection, economic and religious autonomy etc. Non-muslims living in Muslim states were exempt from the taxes that were imposed on Muslims (the Zakat) but had to pay this other tax called the Jizyah, which applied only to them. Islam is a way of life for Muslims – it can’t be separated from the economy, politics and the running of the nation. Human civilizations have many ways of drawing boundaries – either by race, religion, nationality etc and we all tend to accord pre-ferential treatment to one group as opposed to another for reasons that may or may not be valid depending on how you look at it. For example, I am a foreign student studying in the USA – I am required to pay out-of-state fees and am not eligible for a work permit or federal loan – these are privileges that US nationals may have easier access to. Is this discrimination? Or is it a state serving the interests of it’s citizens first and delivering on it’s commitments and responsibilities to the people they serve? All depends on how you look at it, doesn’t it?
In a nut-shell, Islam offers a lot to modern western society if you look closely at things that ail the western world. I particularly feel human rights, economic and social justice models can be developed with great in-put from Islam. There is no doubt it would be a hard sell, what with the constant media bashing and of course bad PR on the part of some Muslims. Which brings me to your final question.
The media . . . the media always have something to say just about everything. They push agendas for a living and more often than not, they relay to the public what suits their agenda. What they present to the public sometimes insults the intelligence of their viewers. The best I could say concerning them is a word of advice – choose wisely which fountain you drink from! However, there is a failure on the part of some Muslim faithfuls in addressing legitimate concerns that humans have. There are many practices which Islam doesn’t advocate but are blindly adopted in the Muslim world. No doubt we need to have an honest discourse amongst ourselves (Muslims) and chart a new way forward. As a timeless message, Islam must and indeed is flexible enough to accommodate the ever-changing global landscape but it is up to Muslims rise up to the challenge and make known to the world what we have to offer.
I urge you to seek more knowledge about Islam, hopefully in all the right places and make a personal analysis of it’s candidacy as a way of life for anyone to adopt.
Below is a set of verses from the Qur’an that I like to recite before I address anyone meaningfully.
"O my Lord! Open for me my chest. And ease my task for me. And loosen the knot from my tongue. That they understand my speech."

Real Estate In Dubai

Dubai and Dubai Property

Of the many major areas of the world, there is something unique about the Emirate of Dubai and about Dubai property. An area of outstanding natural beauty intertwined with the most modern of architecture and buildings, and steeped in the most historical of traditions. The Emirate of Dubai is part of the United Arab Emirates and is seen by many as the doorway between East and West, an area where there are so many contrasts and contradictions, and where land and Dubai property is cheaper than many areas of London.

Having established itself as the trading capital of the area, Dubai has recently been branching out into tourism and is attracting a great deal of interest from the more technology based blue chip companies of the world. The city has so much to offer that it is difficult to know where to begin, with deserts surrounding the outskirts of the great city, to the mountains in the east, yet the central area is awash with the most up to date hospitals, schools and office buildings you could ever wish to see. This is an area where the ultra rich are only a stones throw from desperate poverty, where the most traditional of Islam cultures mix with the western world.

The city offers a corridor to the Indian subcontinent and access to a population of over 1 billion people, in a land which is crying out for investment and assistance. For many years there has been a constant flow of development, with oil money being a major supporter of the area. The recent rise in the oil price has released yet further capital and demand for property has remained consistently high. While property prices remain so competitive compared to the rest of the world, the strategic position of Dubai ensures that yet more foreign investment will pour into the city in due course.

Property in Dubai

Unlike many areas in the region the government of Dubai continue to act with, as oppose to against, the mountain of private foreign capital flowing into the state and directly into property in Dubai. This has resulted in many changes to local Dubai laws, many of which were designed to restrict foreign investment, and foreign ownership of property in Dubai. The government decided some years ago to abolish personal, corporate and sales taxes which is a major attraction to foreign investors, and foreign workers. This resulted in a mass of British specialists moving to the area for employment, hence a large presence of ex-patriots.

This in turn caused a boom in the Dubai property market, which had already been buoyant for some time. The boom was further encouraged by some of the most state- of-the-art infrastructure and facilities spread across the mass that is Dubai. For many they are experiencing a standard of living unsurpassed anywhere else in the world, a place where money is free flowing and employment opportunities are many.

Using the most modern of engineering and design techniques available, great swathes of the surrounding desert have been reclaimed and some of the World’s highest skyscrapers surround the outskirts of the city. There has been particular interest in property in Dubai from British expatriates, Saudi Arabians and Indians, which has ensured a level of interest unrivalled anywhere in the world.

In contrast to the surrounding states and countries, Dubai has one of the most stable of political and economic environments, in an area often blighted by conflict and controversy. This has encouraged more investors into the area, although the possibility of obtaining a valuable 10 – 15 year visa when purchasing a property is a further attraction. The great western tradition of mortgage finance has also entered the Dubai way of life, with 10 – 15 year mortgages now readily available.

The current stability of Dubai is further strengthened by close links with the US, in fact the Dubai currency is linked to US interest rates which have been at record low levels for some time. The above factors all come together to paint a very rosy picture for the area, and property prices are set to move further ahead for the foreseeable future.

Dubai Investment Property

While the city of Dubai is awash with some of the richest individuals and corporations in the world, the price of Dubai Investment property has remained surprisingly low. Compared to investment property prices in areas such as London, Dubai offers great value for money with investment property, as the main city continues to grow and grow. The infrastructure of the area leaves many other major cities of the world in its wake, with new developments and transport links appearing on a regular basis. With the Dubai government willing to invest so much of the local money in to services and infrastructure it is not surprising to see overseas investors follow suit into the Dubai investment property market.

The tax laws in Dubai are in stark contrast to the major cities of the world, with no local, corporate of sales tax. This has encouraged some of the highest standard skilled workers to the area, which has attracted yet more foreign companies to set up. The growth in the tourism industry of Dubai has been phenomenal with the 3.4 million visitors in 2001 expected to rise to over 6 million in 2010 – from a standing start the area is becoming a magnet for overseas visitors.

The current rate of return on property investments is in the region of 10 – 15 percent per annum, with this rate expected to continue for the foreseeable future, and rental yields in excess of 10% are further evidence of strength in the property market.

The Future for Dubai properties

Dubai is a city which continues to embrace some of the traditional values of the west, while retaining the fundamentals of an Islamic state, which has helped integrate the various groups of the Dubai society. Strong links with the US have proved useful in the past in times of potential conflict, which is another attraction for investors to purchase Dubai properties.

As the economy continues to prosper, and the unique tax laws continue to attract the best of the skilled worker from around the world, the demand for property and further investment in the area is assured. Dubai is a fairly unique situation which while expanding aggressively, still manages to retain a property supply and demand ratio in favour of demand, thus ensuring a buoyant market for Dubai properties.

A growing economy, low interest rates and a stable government offer the perfect scenario for further economic growth. Dubai is a truly unique area of the World, which continues to prosper.

Did the Muslims set a new record for playing the victim part?

Filed under: muslims — Tags: Fear, Imagine, muslims, Playing The Victim, religion, Religious Bigotry, Scums, Skydaddy, Stuff — admin @ 6:20 pm

Imagine if the Japanese did this stuff in world war2, there probably wouldn’t be any of them left in the US.

Compared to the US and West is very ultra tolerant of muslims after all the stuff they done. Funny how then they all play the victim part of racial and religious bigotry.

Yet when the camera stops rolling, they treat the Ex Muslims like complete sheet. No rights, no say, fear of getting killed off. Cant believe these scums can get away with this

All religion is stupid. If you believe in some invisible all-knowing skydaddy, you’re all the same and are all equally delusional.

How is Islam the fastest growing religion in the west?

There all kind of people coming to Islam. There is some that even converts it huge masses ( 20+ people). It’s the fastest growing religion in the UK and USA. Just visit you tube. How is that a religion that is put down in the media constantly is the most popular choice today?

Cite your sources for your claims….and no, Youtube is not a source.

The last time I checked the data underlying the "fastest growing" claim, the source was from the 1990s – way out of date. At that time, most studies cited a higher birthrate among muslims for the growth rate of Islam, not conversion.

The last time I saw any population data about Islam, it was from the UN and indicated that the Muslim birthrate has slowed considerably, especially in the west, where the birthrate in established (not new immigrant) communities slows over time, until it nearly matches the birthrate of the native population.

@Muslimgirl, did you really just say that the Bible is not written in a language, but was written in English by Greeks?
Wow.

Why do people deny that Islam preaches the same love towards others as Christianity?

I’m a Christian, but I don’t deny this. Terrorism is not the message of Islam. The media is misleading you. Muhammad, just as Jesus, preached love, tolerance, and belief in one God.

Most of the critics of Islam and some sites which are promoting false propaganda against Islam quote the Verse

Kill the Mushrikoon (polytheists) where ever you find them , The Holy Qur’an, Chapter 9, Verse 5

to show that Qur’an Commands the killing of Disbelievers

This is quotation taken completely out of context. If you read the chapter(Surah At-Taubah) from the beginning the first verse talks about the treaty between the muslims and the Mushriks (Pagans) of Mecca.

Freedom from obligation (is proclaimed) from Allah and His messenger toward those of the idolaters with whom ye made a treaty , The Holy Qur’an, Chapter 9, Verse 1

In the next verse The Meccans are given four months time to set things right otherwise a declaration of War and coming to verse [9:5], the complete verse is

But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is oft-forgiving, Most merciful." The Holy Qur’an, Chapter 9, Verse 5

Hence if you read this in context we know that this statement was made in the battle field. Critics often fail to quote with context. Infact in the battle the Qur’an Commands that a person who seeks asylum should be escorted to a place of security.

If one amongst the pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure that is because they are men without knowledge." The Holy Qur’an, Chapter 9, Verse 6

The Qur’an explicitly forbids killing

Whosoever kills a human being for other than Murder or Creating Mischief in the Land, it is as if he had killed the whole of Human Kind and whoso saved the life of one as if he has saved the life of all Mankind The Holy Qur’an, Chapter 5, Verse 12
