How do Muslims think about evolution theory and what are your personal views?

In Christianity there is much debate among creationists and non-creationists (who do believe in God but also in evolution).
How is this for Muslims? What is the general line and what are your personal views as a Muslim?

We believe in evolution, but not darwinism:

It says "Allah is Al-Khaliq" -(The Creator.)
It also says "Allah is Al-Bari"-(The Evolver.)

For the Muslim there is no need for separation between religion and science. It is understood from the Quran, revealed over 1,400 years ago, that there is both; "Creation" and "Evolution." And in both instances, it is only Allah who is "Able to do all things." In fact, it was the Muslim scientists, more than 1,000 years ago, who set the stage for the advancement of learning, technology and disciplines in science that we know today.

Allah has explained how He created everything in the universe and brought all life out of water. He created humans from earth (not monkeys) and there is no need to attempt fabrications of "links" to the animal world in Islam.

The Christian Bible says that Adam & Eve were both created here on Earth, less than 10,000 years ago. The Quran says that Adam & Eve were created in Heaven, and NOT on Earth. When they disobeyed God, He expelled them from Heaven, down to Earth.

muslims believe that souls are assigned to humans 40 days after the human inception. The Quran says that angels retrieve human souls on two occasions. One occasion is when humans die. The other occasion is every time humans fall asleep. When humans wakeup, the angels release those souls back to them:
———————————-
Zumar {39:42}
"It is Allah that takes the souls (of men) at death; and those that did not die, during their sleep: those on whom He has passed the decree of death, He keeps back, but the rest He sends (to their bodies) for a term appointed. Verily in this are Signs for those who reflect."
————————————–…
Noor {24:45}
"And Allah has Created every animal from water; of them are some creeping on their bellies; some walk on two legs; and some on four. Allah Creates what He wills: for sure Allah has Power over all things."
————————————–…

The Quran has set a precedent 14 centuries before modern science, explaining in simple and direct terms about his "creation" of animals and their various functions and then assures us it is He who has the Power over everything. This statement includes the fact Allah can if He Wills, reshape and alter his creation as He Chooses.

There is clear evidence within many species of alteration and changes within the species. However, there is no concrete evidence to support a cross over in development from one type to another, such as reptiles turning into birds or alligators turning into cows.

The statements made in Quran are quite clear when Allah tells us of having brought forth other life forms and then destroying or replacing them with others. This again, does not imply evolution in the sense of one type becoming or changing into another.

Allah tells us He is Al-Bari, (The Shaper or Evolver) but once again, this does not mean He has a need to bring about each individual life form all from one kind. Actually, while reading the Quran you learn He has brought many types and shapes and sizes as He Wills. Changes within species occur even as quickly as one or two seasons, not even taking a whole year, much less millions as was supposed by Darwin.

Speaking of CHARLES DARWIN, he was only an armature naturalist and had only observed the finches (birds) on the Galapagos Islands for the first time in the mid 1850s. He noticed that on each island the birds had different shaped beaks according to the type of food available on their particular island. For this reason, he assumed, the birds had progressed over millions of years and only the hardiest of the species had survived the climate and vegetation changes. However, this is totally inaccurate and was dismissed as a mere humor in a TV series on the educational channel in October of 1998. According to the scientists’ discoveries in that very same year, the effects of the weather phenomenon known as El Nino, the climate on these same exact islands had drastically changed in a single year within a number of months. And to their surprise, the eggs of the finches on each island hatched open producing birds with beaks already altered to accommodate the changes of their environment.

The commentator even said this shoots Darwin's theory completely down and he laughed.

There is no DNA research pointing to a connection between apes and humans as was supposed by the scientists and those who had financed them over the years. In fact, the barnyard pig is closer to humans in many aspects, than a monkey or a gorilla. Consider the fact, doctors use the skin from pigs to replace needed tissue on burn victims and the famous movie actor, John Wayne had a pig's heart valve installed in his own heart in a 1977 operation to save his life. It worked, too – until his smoking caused him to die of cancer.

The rational approach to the whole subject is rather simple. Just as He is able to Create the universe and brin

How can Islam be so great when their countries show otherwise?

I know the religion itself is excellent, but I have yet to see the religion itself purely practiced. Everywhere I have been, I've seen mostly culture and a tiny bit of religion mixed together and the whole new thing called Islam. For example, Islam preaches so many rights to women, yet in the countries themselves including Saudi Arabia, victims of rape are the guilty and the rapists are the ones who get away with it, since your own laws (not the religion, manmade laws injected into the once pure shariah) claim she needs 4 witnesses (again, religion itself states this is for married couples and accusations of adultery, for rape its the testimony of the woman and a confession from the man or evidence in which case the man is stoned according to hadith). How can you so easily defend the practices of the culture? I used to be a Muslim. I stopped because there are NO pure muslims in this world. I've been to 8 Muslim countries. I haven't seen it practiced anywhere and I HAVE seen laws going against it because males want to get away with everything while making marriage legal slavery.

I used to be a almost an atheist but I changed my mind by understanding the truth

I encourage all the atheists and darwinists to do the same, open their mind and read few pages of the Qura’n.

There is also a new study which shows Darwin became a muslim later in life. He had influences from his grandfather who studied the works of Ibn Arabi (a muslim scientist) who first came up with the idea of evolution.

How can Muslims and Christians live together each with their own religious beliefs?

I am a Christian, a Methodist, living in the state of Missouri in the USA.
I have a friend, Dr. Ali Fant, who has told me much about Islam.
I have read some of an english translation of the Qu'ran but would like to understand more.
My goal is to understand how Muslims and Christians can live together, each with their own religious beliefs, both in the USA and in predominantly Muslim countries.
I welcome all guidance.

I am also a Methodist, and here is my understanding of the conflicts, obtained from listening and reading many different sources, boiled down to the shortest possible explanation. Somewhat simplistic, sure, but see what you think:

A central tennant of Islam is to worship only the one true God (Allah being the Arab translation of the English word "god").

The Christian concept of the Holy Trinity is easily miscontrued as being three gods (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), especially considering that Jesus is described in our literature as a separate entity.

The mainstream Muslim view, as I understand it, is to accept our explanation of the Trinity as separate manifestations of Allah's (or God's) attributes, as opposed to actual separate deities.

The Muslim concept of "Jihad" (holy war) as I understand it, provides for the use of force to protect Islam if it is threatened by "non-believers", those who do not follow God (or Allah). Jews and Christians are "believers" by definition unless you reject the mainstream view of the Trinity as described above.

Of course, there being different versions of Islam (sort of like the difference between Catholic and Protestant), there are groups of Muslims who reject that view.

Some Muslims believe that Jihad goes beyond the defense of Islam, creating a license, maybe even a duty, to convert others to Islam through the use of violence if necessary. Some believe it only applies within their own borders; others feel compelled to take their show on the road. The Spanish Inquisition comes to mind.

Jews and Christians (for those Jihadists who accept the classic view of Trinity) would still be exempt from death by Jihad, as followers of Allah (or God).

Now, for my answer to your question, how Muslims and Christians can live together:
First, we all need to understand and accept the fact that there will be some Muslims and some Christians who will never be able to live together because their own thick-headedness and/or ignorant intolerance; civilized nations have laws against violence and those need to be enforced.

Second, Christians need to understand that Islam is not "Anti-Christian," and Muslims need to understand that Christianity is not "anti-Muslim." In America, those who can't understand will just have to accept the fact that American muslims have all the same rights as American Christians — that's what America is all about. I can't really speak firsthand about other countries.

What are three important principles of islam?

I am doing a report on Islam and have been studying the Koran, but find have had difficulty really finding some of the passages and interpreting main messages. Please explain some of the main idea's that are important also to the Islam Religion as a whole.
i forgot to mention that i needed help mostly with the second sura. sorry thanks

Ok, we know we don't create each other and we don't come to this world from nowhere because when we die we must be going somewhere as well, hence there must be God, if there were many Gods, they would have fought over what to be created and what not to be, probably over who to die and who to live at the same time… so it's gotta be one God… if that God created us then there must be a reason… could we figure it out on our own? God made it easy and sent us messengers and prophets to show us the way and tell us why… so all the messengers and all the religions are from the same only God, so they've got to be complementary to each other, not opposing each other!!! then God must have said His final words in the last message, what is the last message? and how do we know it's the last one? I guess that would be the religion that believes in all messengers and all books equally… is there such religion? actually yes, Islam does :)
A True Muslim (man or woman) gets his reward for obeying Allah's orders (Allah means The God in Arabic) by going to heaven, where he/she are indulged forever in all the good things that were on earth and more, things no one ever dreamt of or heard about. The Holy Quran tells muslims (men and women) there will be good food, good wine and sex in heaven for all, but not in the bestial way you may think of, but rather in a way that is satisfactory for everyone and better than what was on earth. Heaven is no heartbreak or injustice land.
True Muslims are no terrorists, and Islam never calls for that, Islam means peace, it bans violence unless you were fought so you fight back, it only doesn't require Muslims to be cowards, and true Muslims understand this very well and never attack civilians.
Islam is the only religion that accepts freedom of religion and asks men to treat women gently like queens.
It's all in the Holy Quran and the right teachings of prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
If some people behave otherwise, then it's because people behaviour doesn't necessarily reflect the rulings of their religion always, for example, we can't (and don't) judge Christianity by Hitler or Madonna.
And that is another reason why there is heaven and hell after we die, heaven for the obedient and hell for the disobedient and/or oppressor, it's all going to be decided on the day of resurrection and judgement.
To be a Muslim, you must believe God is only one with no spouses or offspring, believe in his angels (servants not males or females), believe in all his religions, messangers and books equally, the day of judgement, heaven and hell and that everything is in God's hands and because of his will (good or bad).
Muslims believe God is the only divine who never dies, the creator who deserves to be worshiped, all prophets who came to earth are human messangers sent by him.
Muslims don't deny christianity, judaism, Jesus or Moses. They believe in them as the noble prophets and messangers of God, love and respect them so much.
We believe the birth of Jesus (messanger of God) was a miracle from God to us, being born by a mother only and with no father. God is the creator, he can do anything.
We believe Jesus (peace be upon him) is NOT dead till today; he wasn’t even murdered or crucified as most people think. God (most glorified) made the man who betrayed Jesus be killed instead by switching their looks for a moment. Jesus was left up to live in heaven until the end of days when he will come back to earth again, with no new teachings or messages but just to make justice prevail instead of oppression, fight the imposter who will claim to be God and (most important) to perform his last prayer with the Muslims announcing he's too a follower of the last prophet (Muhammad) as all people should… then he really dies like other Prophets and be buried (peace be upon them all). So we're waiting for you Jesus, Messenger of God, to bring the world peace and pray with us. That’s what prophet Muhammad told us and this is what I believe in, I’m a Muslim
so how do we know it's true? what is said in the last message and what should we do? read the following, and you'll figure out for yourself:

He Who Obeys the Prophet (saas) Obeys Allah

Allah charges everyone with obeying the prophets He has sent. These messengers were blessed men who abided by Allah’s commands, communicated His revelations, represented the human model most pleasing to Allah by means of their words and actions, in short by their whole manner of living. Allah reveals in the Qur’an that those who abide by His messengers will be saved. For that reason, obedience to the Prophet (saas) is an obligation of the very greatest importance. Allah reveals the importance of obedience in the Qur’an:

We sent no messenger except to be obeyed by Allah’s permission. If only when they wronged themselves they had come to you and asked Allah’s forgiveness and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them they would have found Allah Ever-Returning, Most Merciful. (Surat an-Nisa’: 64)

Whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger will be with those whom Allah has blessed: the prophets and steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and righteous. What excellent company such people are! (Surat an-Nisa’: 69)

In several verses of the Qur’an, Allah states that those who obey His messengers are in truth obeying Allah. Those who rebel against these messengers, on the other hand, rebel against Allah. Some of these verses are:

Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah. If anyone turns away, we did not send you to them as their keeper. (Surat an-Nisa’: 80)

Those who pledge you their allegiance pledge allegiance to Allah. Allah’s hand is over their hands. He who breaks his pledge only breaks it against himself. But as for him who fulfils the contract he has made with Allah, We will pay him an immense reward. (Surat al-Fath: 10)

The Prophet (saas) has also stressed the importance of obedience in the hadiths:

“Whoever obeys me, obeys Allah, and whoever disobeys me, disobeys Allah, and whoever obeys the ruler I appoint, obeys me, and whoever disobeys him, disobeys me.” (Sahih Bukhari, Book 9, Number 251)

In the Qur’an, Allah describes the Prophet (saas) as a protector and guide for the faithful. Muslims, therefore, referred to him in all matters, and sought his permission and opinion before engaging in anything. On subjects they were unable to agree upon among themselves, though even on matters they were able to solve by themselves, or when they received news concerning the security, health or economy of the community of the faithful, they immediately took them to the Prophet (saas) and abided by the sure and trustworthy advice or solution he recommended.

This is a most important aspect of morality, commanded by Allah in the Qur’an. In one verse, for instance, He orders all news to be forwarded to the Prophet (saas) or those representing him. The verse reads:

When news of any matter reaches them they spread it about, whether it is of a reassuring or disquieting nature. If they had only referred it to the Messenger and those in command among them, those among them able to discern the truth about it would have had proper knowledge of it. If it were not for Allah’s favor to you and His mercy, all but a very few of you would have followed Satan. (Surat an-Nisa’: 83)

That, of course, is a most beneficial and wise command. For one thing, each order and rule of the Prophet (saas) is guaranteed by Allah. Furthermore, the Prophet (saas) was the wisest and cleverest member of the community of the faithful. Usually, most look to consult the most intelligent person and the one who best obeys his conscience, that is, the person they trust the most in any matter, in order to establish a decision.

As well as all these characteristics of the Prophet (saas), another wisdom in all news being gathered together in one person is that this will provide the best and most intelligent response because all the aspects of the event will be known by one person. In another verse, Allah commands the faithful to make the Prophet (saas) their judge in any disagreements between them. It is a command from Allah that all such disagreements should be taken to the Prophet (saas) at once, and that is therefore the most fitting course of action in terms of reason, morality and conscience. It is also most important to obey the rules set out by the Prophet (saas), with all one’s heart and with no reservations. Even if his decision conflicts with the interests of an individual, true believers will feel no doubts at all, and will immediately obey the command of the Prophet (saas). Allah describes this important aspect of obedience in the Qur’an:

No, by your Lord, they are not believers until they make you their judge in the disputes that break out between them, and then find no resistance within themselves to what you decide and submit themselves completely. (Surat an-Nisa’: 65)

Some hypocritical people, or people whose faith is weak, have failed to realize that the decisions of the Prophet (saas) are assured by Allah and opposed informing him of every situation, thus causing dissension. Allah describes the condition of such people in the Qur’an:

Among them are some who insult the Prophet, saying he is only an ear [only a hearer]. Say, “An ear of good for you, believing in Allah and believing in the believers, and a mercy for those among you who believe.” As for those who insult the Messenger of Allah, they will have a painful punishment. (Surat at-Tawba: 61)

Since these people failed to grasp the essence of faith, and were unable to appreciate the merit of the Prophet (saas), they adopted the wrong approach with regards to informing him about every matter. The ignorant are unable to use what they know for beneficial ends, for the good and security of mankind. They use it for gossip and to try to spread dissension, to turn people against one another and to plot against them. The Prophet (saas), however, used all the information that was brought to him for the peace, security and health of muslims and other groups under his protection, to avoid possible dangers and to thwart plots against believers.

Identifying those whose faith was weak, he took measures to strengthen that faith, and prevented anything that might have weakened the faithful or damaged their morale. He brought in measures that would bring them good and lead to desirable outcomes. That is why Allah refers to him as “an ear of good” in one verse. All of the Prophet (saas)’s words, decisions and measures have led to good and positive results for believers as well as mankind.
